ABSTRACT A stator core for an electrical machine has laminations with a wave-shaped surface. The waves in the stator laminations in the cold core causes the tangential heat expansion of the core to be distributed over a number of the waves which increases each wave height only slightly. This prevents the system from reching a stability limit or permanent deformation.
