The invention is a stator lamination notching apparatus. The apparatus includes an indexing servo motor and is controlled by a programmable servo controller. The motor is a vertical output motor which is directly coupled to the turntable which is directly coupled to the output shaft of the motor without the need for gears. Further, the notching preformed by the apparatus is precisely controlled by a PSC which controls the indexing of the turntable used to support the stator lamination. Further, the stator lamination notching apparatus includes a direct drive between the turntable and the servo motor.
