Abstract The steam gernerator comprises a first vertical flue (10) consisting of tube banks (12, 13) welded in sealing-tight relationship. It also comprises a second vertical flue (11) adjacent the first flue and a transverse flue (15) connecting the vertical flues in their top zone. In order to take the weights of the of the tube banks (12, 13 and 12', 14 ) of the first and second vertical flues a bearer system (7 and 8 respectively) is provided for each vertical flue in the region of the height just below the transverse flue (15) and is connected to the boiler supporting structure (2, 5) just below the transverse flue. As a result, the steam generator construction is simplified, since the bearer tubes otherwise required and extending form the back wall of the first vertical flue and the front wall of the second vertical flue and through the transverse flue are eliminated.
