A rotary drill bit assembly (1) suitable for directionally drilling a subsurface borehole the assembly (1) comprising a bit body (3) extending along a central longitudinal bit-body axis (8), and having a bit-body face (10) at its front end, wherein an annular portion of the bit-body face is provided with chip-making elements (12); a pilot bit (20) extending along a central longitudinal pilot-bit axis (32), the pilot bit (20) being partly arranged within the bit body (3) and projecting out of the central portion (14) of the bit-body face (10), a joint means (30) arranged to pivotably connect the pilot bit (20) to the bit body (3) so that the bit-body axis (8) and the pilot-bit axis (32) can form a variable diversion angle; and a steering means (40, 42, 45, 47, 55, 62) arranged to pivot the pilot bit (20) in order to steer.

L'invention concerne un ensemble trépan rotatif orientable (1) pour forage directionnel de trou de forage souterrain (1) comprenant un corps (3) qui s'étend le long d'un axe central longitudinal (8), et une face (10) à l'extrémité frontale (10) du corps. Une partie annulaire de la face comporte des éléments qui permettent de tailler la matière en éclats (12). Par ailleurs, un outil pilote (20) s'étend le long d'un axe central longitudinal (32), cet outil (20) étant situé en partie dans le corps (3) et ressortant en partie de la partie centrale (14) de la face (10). Un joint (30) relie pivotant cet outil (20) au corps (3) si bien que l'axe du corps (8) et l'axe de l'outil (32) forment un angle de déviation variable. Enfin, un système d'orientation (40, 42, 45, 47, 55, 62) fait pivoter l'outil pilote (20) selon l'orientation voulue.
