The invention concerns a steering aid system for altitude and horizontal speed of an aircraft (4) comprising: a measuring device (22) for delivering a measured signal based on the aircraft altitude and horizontal speed, a common predetermined reference value (26) for the aircraft altitude and horizontal speed, and means (20) for slaving said signal to said reference value by pitch loop, said means being adapted to vary automatically the pitch and/or propulsive performance of the lifting means to lock the measured signal to the reference value.

Ce système d'assistance au pilotage de l'altitude et de la vitesse horizontale d'un aéronef (4) comporte :- un dispositif de mesure (22) apte à délivrer un signal mesuré fonction de l'altitude et de la vitesse horizontale de l'aéronef,- une valeur (26) de référence prédéterminée commune pour l'altitude et la vitesse horizontale de l'aéronef, et- des moyens (20) formant une boucle d'asservissement dudit signal à ladite valeur de référence, ces moyens étant aptes à faire varier automatiquement le tangage et/ou la puissance développée par les moyens de sustentation pour asservir le signal mesuré à la valeur de référence.
