ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A hydraulic control valve comprising a housing and a first chamber therein connectable to receive fluid from a source of pressurized fluid whose pressure is to be controlled and having a discharge outlet. A second chamber is provided and connectable to a source of pilot fluid. A valve spool is provided in the housing and movable between one position where- in it closes the discharge outlet of the first chamber thereby maintaining fluid in the first chamber at a predetermined pres- sure level and another position wherein it opens the discharge outlet thereby causing the fluid in the first chamber to fall below the predetermined pressure level. A biasing mechanism is provided for acting in conjunction with the pilot fluid in the second chamber to bias the valve spool towards the said one position. The biasing mechanism is of insufficient force in the absence of pilot fluid of a predetermined pressure level to maintain the valve spool in the one position. An actuator is provided to selectively move the valve spool toward the said other position.
