A steering wheel-style computer input device includes a steering wheel having a handgrip and an attached hub. A housing is provided having a hub receiving aperture in which is received the hub of the steering wheel. A rheostat is provided having a rheostat housing and an actuator. One of the rheostat housing and the actuator is secured to the housing. The other of the rheostat housing and the actuator is connected to a remote end of the hub of the steering wheel. Rotational movements of the hub resulting from manipulation of the steering wheel are converted by the rheostat into a signal for transmission to a computer.
