A stenophiluric media is provided containing at least one bio-limiting agent such as a copper, tin, nickel or alloy thereof. The media may be formed of a polymer such as a thermoplastic polymer. The polymer may be an epoxy resin, a polyester resin, a polyurethane resin or an aminoplast resin. The media may also be formed of an amalgam of naturally occuring tars and resins. In an embodiment, the polymer is a crosslinked polyepoxide prepared from an epoxy resin and a polyamine crosslinking agent. The media may also contain a nutrient source. The media is used to prevent fouling by applying a coating of the media to a substrate such as a the hull of a boat or ship, a culvert or piping or a surface in a fermentation vessel, and allowing a selected biomass to form on the media. The selected biomass produces allelopathic chemicals that prevent attachment of higher animals.
Un milieu sténoprophilurique contient au moins un agent bio-limitant tel que le cuivre, l'étain, le nickel ou un alliage de ces métaux. Le milieu peut être formé d'un polymère tel qu'un polymère thermoplastique. Ce polymère peut être une résine époxyde, une résine polyester, une résine polyuréthanne ou une résine aminoplaste. Le milieu peut également être formé d'un amalgame de goudrons et de résines d'origine naturelle. Dans un mode de réalisation, le polymère est un polyépoxyde réticulé préparé à partir d'une résine époxyde et d'un agent de réticulation du type polyamine. Le milieu peut également contenir une source nutritive. Le milieu est utilisé pour éviter l'encrassement. A cet effet, il est appliqué sous forme d'un revêtement, sur un substrat tel que la coque d'un bateau ou d'un navire, une buse, une conduite ou une surface de cuve de fermentation, et il permet à une biomasse sélectionnée de se former sur lui. La biomasse sélectionnée produit des substances chimiques allélopathiques empêchant la fixation d'animaux d'espèce supérieure.
