Abstract of the Disclosure A thermoplastic stepping stone or paving block and its method of fabrication are disclosed. The stepping stone has a top layer and downwardly projecting peripheral wall that are integrally molded from virgin low density polyethylene, and which together define a downwardly opening receptacle. The receptacle is partially filled with a plurality of relatively thin layers of recycled, low quality thermoplastic material to define a laminate core. The remainder of the receptacle is filled with a bottom layer of higher quality recycled plastic such as high density polyethylene. A layer of aggregate material such as pea gravel is embedded in the top layer and partially exposed for improved wear as well as aesthetic appearance.
