A miniature stereo imaging assembly for a laparoscope or similar probe has an objective lens assembly and an imager device. The objective lens assembly has left and right lens cells contained in a housing or block, with the lens cells having their optic axes parallel. The imager device has two active imaging areas formed side by side on a common substrate. The center-to-center spacing between the active imaging areas is somewhat larger than the pupil distance between the lens cell optic axes.
