Abstract Disclosed is a stereophonic sound producing apparatus for a game ma- chine having left and right background sound input terminals for receiving sound signals from a first signal source, such as a laser disc player, front and rear game sound input terminals for receiving sound signals from a second signal source, such as a computer, and left and right control signal input terminals for receiving control signals from the second signal source. First, second, third and fourth loudspeakers are disposed at the front right side, front left side, rear right side, and rear left side with respect to a seat disposed at the center of a body member for the game machine. The loudspeakers are connected at preceding stages thereof to first through fourth power amplifiers and first through fourth mixers in that order respectively, the right side background sound input terminal connecting to the first mixer and to one of the third and fourth mixers through a first phase shifter, the left side background input terminal connecting to the second mixer and to one of the fourth and third mixers through a second phase shifter. One of the front and rear game sound input terminals connects to the first and second mixers, the other of the game sound input term- inals connecting to the third and fourth mixers separately through first and sec- ond variable gain controllers respectively. The left and right control signal input terminals are connected to the variable gain con rollers respectively, so that stereophonic sounds are controlled by logical "1" and "0" signals from the control signal input terminals.
