ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method for administering a compound in vivo in which the compound entrapped in a liposome, the bilayers of which comprise a salt form of an organic acid derivative of a sterol. The bilayers may comprise a tris(hydroxymethyl)aminomethane salt form of an organic acid derivative of a sterol. The invention also provides a method for the entrapment of a water-insoluble compound in sterol vesicles; a composition comprising the tris(hvdroxymethyl)aminomethane salt of cholesteryl hemisuccinate and an antifungal compound; and a method of treating a fungal infection.
