STOOL FOR IN SITU CAST BEAM ABSTRACT A stool for use in the construction of a Pynford beam the stool being characterised by upper and lower body portions, the lower of which is arranged to be supported on the wall below and the upper of which is arranged to be used in load-bearing engagement with the wall above, and one of which body portions includes a screw-threaded socket having a vertical axis; and a screw-threaded spindle which screws through the screw-threaded socket and which includes means for rotating the spindle relative- ly to the screw-threaded socket, the other of the body portions having an axially opening socket arranged to receive the end of the spindle and the spindle providing an axial reaction on the other of the body portions to force the body portions apart when the spindle is screwed out of the screw-threaded socket.
