ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention relates to a stop mechanism for a bend- ing press, plate shear or like machine. The machine is provided with a work-table and with a work-piece stop which is horizont- ally adjustable along the work table thereby defining the posi- tion of the work-piece relative to the machinery. The work- piece stop is coupled with a position control-unit which is pro- vided with an indicator of the momentary position of the work- piece stop and can be programmed with a desired position. The stop is displaceable by means of a hydraulic piston-cylinder unit and a drive thereof is controlled by the position control- unit.
