ABSTRACT A capping capsule has a tear-off guarantee strip (6) with vertical spaced ribs (9) on its inner face. The ends of the ribs are of a decreasing height and reach zero at the crimping lines (7 and 8) which join the strip to a skirt (2) of the capsule. The ribs strengthen the strip to prevent axial defor- mation when the capsule is placed on a bottle and also inhibit tearing of the strip.
