A cart assembly for transporting, storing and dispensing medical supplies and for maintaining medical supply information includes a frame with a plurality of drawers, a self-contained computer assembly mounted on the frame, a latching and locking device for the drawers of the frame, and castors attached to the frame. The computer assembly may be preprogrammed with patient information and may be programmed on-site with supply usage and patient information. The computer assembly controls access to the drawers, only allowing access to specific supplies, and only to those authorized to access the supplies. The computer and associated software tracks supply usage which may be downloaded to any receptive computer.
