A method for repairing a glass coated bolted steel liquid storage tank base and the resulting tank are disclosed. In the past, the diameter of the tanks was smaller than they have gradually become, and failure of the connection between the base and the tank wall was not a diagnosed failure mechanism. In at least one instance, with a very large diameter tank, stress on the connection has led to failure. The invention strengthens the connection between the base slab and the tank wall, preventing separation between the base slab and the embedded steel sheet, through grouting of new dowels.
