A B S T R A C T There is provided an improved storage unit including a framed shell and a storage-compartment insert that is to remain stationary during use, wherein an open end is provided for access to the storage compartment, which open end is enclosed by a vertically movable door which is guided on tracks on the sides of the shell's frame and is received into a space between the top of the shell and the top of the insert.
