A stowable knockdown sawhorse can be assembled in two configurations: an operating configuration and a storage configuration. The sawhorse includes a pair of inverted-V-shaped leg members and a saddle having four mounting assemblies -- two at each end, one per side. Each leg member has a notched apex that envelops one end of the saddle and is in turn enveloped within an inclined channel formed within each mounting assembly, thereby forming the sawhorse into its operating configuration. Each mounting assembly further defines an exterior bearing surface, the bearing surfaces on like sides of the saddle facing and opposing each other and lying on planes that intersect beyond the saddle working surface to form an angle equal to the apex angle of the leg members. The bearing surfaces are thereby oriented to accept and retain therebetween the leg assemblies when disengaged from the ends of the saddle and inverted between the bearing surfaces to form the sawhorse into its storage configuration.
La présente invention fait état d'un chevalet de sciage escamotable, constitué de pièces détachées, qui peut être assemblé selon deux configurations distinctes : une configuration d'utilisation et une configuration de stockage. Le chevalet comprend deux montants de soutien en forme de V inversé et une traverse munie de quatre dispositifs de fixation, deux à chaque extrémité et un de chaque côté de la traverse. En configuration d'utilisation, chaque montant comporte un sommet entaillé entourant une extrémité de la traverse, et les montants sont à leur tour entourés par un passage incliné, formé à même les dispositifs de fixation. Les dispositifs d'assemblage délimitent en outre des surfaces d'appui externes. Ces dernières, situées d'un même côté de la traverse, se font face en s'opposant et forment un plan qui se croise au-delà de la surface de travail de la traverse, de manière à former un angle correspondant à l'angle du sommet des montants. Les surfaces d'appui sont ainsi orientées de manière à recevoir et à retenir, entre elles, les montants ayant été détachés des extrémités de la traverse, inversés et placés entre les surfaces d'appui lorsque le chevalet est en configuration de stockage.
