STRAIGHTENING MACHINE FOR MOTOR ARMATURE ASSEMBLIES AND THE LIKE ABSTRACT A machine for straightening cylindrical workpieces such as motor armature assemblies having diametrically enlarged inter- mediate sections and reduced diameter opposite end sections coax- ial with the intermediate sections. The machine has first and second separable bearing units aligned axially and space apart axially for engagement and support of said reduced diameter oppo- site end sections of a workpiece. At least one end section pro- jects axially and with the workpiece rotating, a radially movable deflection device engages the projecting end section of the work- piece, bends and slowly returns the same to axial alignment. In a second embodiment, both end sections of the shaft or reduced diameter portion are deflected and straightened simultaneously.
