Abstract of the Disclosure Strain Gauge The invention relates to a strain gauge in the form of a premagnetized ferromagnetic film. Any change in length is converted into a planar Hall voltage by employing the pro- perty of magnetostriction and the planar Hall effect, or measured as a change in electric conductivity by em- ploying the properties of magnetostriction and magnetore- sistance. The strain gauge is deposited on a substrate by thin-film techniques and has a very high sensitivity.
