Abstract An assembly for straining pulp suspensions and the like comprises a strainer drum mounted in a strainer housing. One or more devices are provided, in order to remove impurities from the fibers, which devices are preferably designed as an impact plate located in the strainer housing in the flow path, so that the particles in the stream are subjected, in part to impact action, and so that the stream is subjected to variations in velocity.
