A floating strapping head (18) is for use in a strapping machine of the type for positioning, tensioning and sealing a strapping material to itself around a load. The strapping machine has a frame (14) and a strap chute (16). The floating strapping head includes a tensioning module (28), a separate sealing module (26) and a drive assembly (40) operably connected to the tensioning module and the sealing module. The drive assembly is configured to move the tensioning and sealing modules toward and away from one another. The head includes a guide (48) along which the tensioning and sealing modules move laterally, together and toward and away from one another. When tension is drawn in the strapping material with an end of the strapping material gripped by the sealing head and an opposite- portion of the.strapping material gripped by the tensioning module, the drive is actuated to move the tensioning and sealing modules away from one another. The tensioning and sealing modules float, moving along the guide, as one, to equalize the tension in the strapping material on either side of the strapping head.
L'invention porte sur une tête de cerclage flottante (18) qui est prévue pour une utilisation dans une cercleuse du type destiné à positionner, tendre et sceller un matériau de cerclage sur lui-même autour d'une charge. La cercleuse comporte un bâti (14) et une goulotte de sangle (16). La tête de cerclage flottante comprend un module de mise sous tension (28), un module de scellement séparé (26) et un ensemble d'entraînement (40) relié de manière fonctionnelle au module de mise sous tension et au module de scellement. L'ensemble d'entraînement est configuré pour déplacer les modules de mise sous tension et de scellement en les approchant et en les écartant l'un de l'autre. La tête comprend un guide (48) le long duquel les modules de mise sous tension et de scellement se déplacent latéralement, ensemble, en s'approchant et en s'écartant l'un de l'autre. Lorsqu'une tension est appliquée au matériau de cerclage, une extrémité du matériau de cerclage étant saisie par la tête de scellement et une partie opposée du matériau de cerclage étant saisie par le module de mise sous tension, l'entraînement est actionné pour écarter l'un de l'autre les modules de mise sous tension et de scellement. Les modules de mise sous tension et de scellement flottent, se déplaçant le long du guide, comme une seule unité, pour égaliser la tension dans le matériau de cerclage de chaque côté de la tête de cerclage.
