Streaming panoramic images from a server (100) to a client (150). The system utilizes a special program at the client and a special program in the server. The special program at the client communicates with the special program at the server (100) to direct which portion of the panorama should be streamed to the client. The special program at the client has the ability to accept data that represents a portion of a series of panoramic frames, to decompress the data, to select the data that constitutes an appropriate view window (216) and to render a portion of each frame on a screen or display. The special program at the server selects particular slices that constitute a region of interest in the panorama and these slices are sent to the client. When the location of the view window is changed by more than a threshold amount, the client sends a command back to the web server to adjusts the selection of the slices that are streamed from the server to the client.
L'invention concerne l'enregistrement et la lecture en continu d'images panoramiques depuis un serveur (100) vers un client (150). Le système utilise un programme spécial installé dans le serveur. Le programme spécial installé côté client communique avec le programme spécial installé côté serveur (100) de manière à acheminer la portion du panorama devant être transmise en continu au client. Le programme spécial installé côté client est conçu pour accepter les données représentant une portion d'une série de trames panoramiques, pour décompresser les données, pour sélectionner les données constituant une fenêtre de visualisation (216) appropriée, et pour restituer une portion de chaque trame sur un écran ou un dispositif d'affichage. Le programme spécial côté serveur sélectionne des tranches particulières constituant une région d'intérêt dans le panorama, puis ces tranches sont envoyées au client. Lorsque l'emplacement de la fenêtre de visualisation est modifié au delà d'une quantité seuil, le client renvoie une commande au serveur web de manière à ajuster la sélection des tranches qui sont transmises en continu depuis le serveur au client.
