ABSTRACT Strengthening a Matrix A matrix is strengthened by substantially randomly embedding therein at least one flexible strip of open mesh structure without creating a substantial amount of extra void space in the matrix, the strip being more than one hundred times as long as it is wide, and the strip having tenaceous junctions or intersections, high flexural recovery and high dimensional stability in its plane.
