A door and door frame assembly includes a rectangular door with a rectangular door frame surrounding the door for mounting in the frame of a building. The door frame is formed in two separate elements an inner frame adjacent the peripheral edge of the door and outer frame surrounding the inner frame. Both the inner and outer frame are formed from channel members with the web of the channel members of the inner frame adjacent the edge of the door. The web of the outer frame faces away from the door and the inner frame members are slideable inside the outer frame members. the inner frame is attached to the outer frame by a plurality of spring couplings which extend radially outwardly and are compressible or twistable to accommodate movement of the outer frame while the inner frame remains basically stationary and rectangular. The structure accommodates the dramatic shifts which are common in buildings mounted on permafrost.
