A stretcher for tubular knitwear fabric has two arms, driving wheels, and belts mounted on the arms, wheels having inclined axes and arranged in front of faces of rings, the rings being mounted on the arms in correspondence with the driving wheel. Magnets are provided that act directly onto the arms, attracting them outwardly such that the rings are attracted against the driving wheels and are offset from the inclined wheels, with the fabric being advanced between the belts and the driving wheels.
