A frame (10) is disclosed for stretching a printing screen (12) quickly and with uniform application of tension to the screen (12). The frame (10) includes a base portion (14) that defines a stretching plane in which the work piece is stretched. A swingable portion (30) of the frame (10) pivots relative to the base (14) and moves from a relaxed position in which the swingable portion (30) defines a plane that intersects the stretching plane, to a stretching position in which the swingable portion (30) is fixed in the stretching plate. A retainer (90) secures the edges of the screen (12) to the frame (10) such that the screen mesh is uniformly stretched as the swingable portion (30) is pushed into the stretching plane. A tension cable (140) extends through the frame (10) over a series of pulleys (142, 144, 148, 150, 152, 154, 156, 158, 160, 162, 164, 166) spaced at several locations through each leg of the frame. Increased tension on the cables (140) pulls the swingable portion (30) of the frame (10) into the stretching plane.

L'invention présente un châssis (10) permettant de tendre rapidement un écran de sérigraphie (12) en lui appliquant uniformément une force de tension. Ce châssis (10) comporte une base (14) définissant une partie plane d'étirage dans laquelle la pièce à travailler est tendue. Le châssis (10) est pourvu d'une partie basculante (30) qui pivote par rapport à la base (14) et se déplace d'une position de relâchement où elle définit une partie plane recoupant la partie plane d'étirage à une position de tension où elle est fixée dans la partie plane d'étirage. Un dispositif de retenue (90) assujettit les bords de l'écran (12) au châssis (10) de sorte que le maillage de l'écran est uniformément tendu quand la partie basculante (30) est poussée dans la partie plane d'étirage. Un câble de traction (140) traverse le châssis en passant au-dessus d'une série de poulies (142, 144, 148, 150, 152, 154, 156, 158, 160, 162, 164, 166) espacées en divers points de chaque coté du châssis. Le fait d'exercer une tension accrue sur les câbles attire la partie basculante (30) du châssis (10) dans la partie plane d'étirage.
