In sport training, it is a technical and physiological advantage for athletes to train as sport specific as possible. In many sport-training programs, athletes are required to jump in fast succession either horizontally or vertically. Many variations can take place from either 1 leg jumping to 2 leg jumping - from side to side to front and back. This type of training exercise is known as plyometrics. Skating athletes such as hockey and speed skating have a high degree of lateral (side to side) motion in their skating technique. Therefore training programs, to be as specific as possible, should ask the athlete to perform plyometric exercise from 1 leg to the opposite in succession side to side. This technique is usually done on a flat surface such as the floor or constructed boards. In this invention, two freely independent angled landing panels are formed onto a guided based, such that the landing panels openly face each other. These angled panels are the main distinct features of this apparatus, to which the function of this apparatus is derived; allowing athletes to perform lateral (side to side) plyometric training. These angled panels are secured to a base for which stability is given to the apparatus. This base is designed to secure to solid flooring. The apparatus is designed to meet the requirements of the training individual. This is accomplished by the ability to adjust the distance of the angled panels between each other and by adjusting the degree angle of the angled panels. This design of this invention is how this invention is unique to other training devices and tools. This apparatus will overcome disadvantages that exist with current training tools, to allow athletes to train more effectively, efficiently, sport specifically and safer. Tools prior to this apparatus have been constructed to allow athletes to utilize plyometrics within their training programs. However, no other apparatus has been designed to attempt to overcome the disadvantages that are found with these current training and strengthening tools. Along with a focus of training skating athletes such as hockey and speed skating, other functions of this invention are plyometric training for athletes of all sport, testing procedures and program development. Apparatus implementation sites will be most common within the confines of team (professional and semi-professional) training facilities, strength and conditioning areas and designated team therapy areas. Other implementation sites may include recreational team training and therapy facilities, strength and conditioning areas. Community school gyms/training areas, community health and wellness centers and individual sport camps (such as hockey) are other implementation sites.
