A STRINGER FOR A SLIDE FASTENER AND METHOD FOR MAKING SAME Abstract of the Disclosure The invention relates to a stringer for a slide fastener. The stringer comprises an elongated body having two leg portions connected by a bight portion to define a generally U-shaped configuration. Transverse slots are disposed between closed ends of the bight portion to provide longitudinally spaced head members. Further transverse slots provide longitudinally spaced legs on each side of the head members. Longitudinally extending grooves are formed in the legs to receive stitches when the stringer is sewn onto a fabric. The slots defining the head members are U-shaped with the open ends of the V being adjacent each other at the head members for flexibility when closing and opening the slide fastener. The slots defining the legs are similarly V-shaped for flexibility. The legs are close together at the free ends to provide a longitudinally extending aperture for receiving fabric. The legs are relatively widely spaced apart adjacent the head members to provide a longitudinally extending recess for receiving head members of an associated stringer. The stringer can be readily manufactured but is highly efficient in operation and has a relatively long, trouble-free life.
