ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This invention relates to a string for sports rackets which has a lubricant fluid present to plasticise the string. The lubricant increases the life-time of the string and improves its playing characteristics. The string comprises a core constituting one or more synthetic polymeric monofilaments, at least one or the monofilaments having a longitudinal bore with one or more openings along the length of the bore for the passage of fluid from the bore. The core is covered by a wrapping of synthetic polymeric material.
