Disclosed is an apparatus for bringing two planar objects such as sheets of glass into juxtaposition with each other. This apparatus has a pair of opposed panels or the like to be joined together, and supports each of the panels or the like in an opposed relationship in a first axis, effecting pivotal movement of the opposed outer ends of the respective panels or the like toward each other while simultaneously lowering the opposed inner ends of the respective panels or the like to a second axis located in a plane inclined to the first axis, and subsequently, effects relative converging movement of the panels or the like to bring the panels into juxtaposition.
