A strip severing and transfer arrangement for an insertion strip to be threaded into a machine for manufacturing or processing of a web, comprises a pivotally supported guide plate having a transfer edge for guiding the insertion strip, a first blow element for applying an air blast to the top surface of the guide plate facing the insertion strip, a severing means and a second blow element in the region of the transfer edge of the guide plate, across which the insertion strip runs off the guide plate at a rear side of the guide plate facing away from the insertion strip for producing air flow which flows out across the transfer edge of the guide plate. The insertion strip is optimally guided at high speeds at the start of the threading process, without fluctuations and lateral offset, permitting precise separation or severance. The front edge of the insertion strip is accurately guided during the transfer to the follow-on arrangements, be it a guide-plate or rope shears, so that the threading process of the fed insertion strip can be assured with a very high degree of certainty.
