Abstract of the Disclosure A severing device is disclosed for severing strip material wound onto winding sleeves upon a pair of supporting rolls driven for rotation. A severing blade, the length of which is equal to the width of the strip of material to be severed, is adapted to be moved, in a direction at right angles to its length, between the supporting rolls into a severing position, and to be returned thereafter to a starting position.
