Disclosed is a stripping/absorption module for use with a stream of relatively strong beer and a stream of relatively strong brine. The module comprises: a plurality of heat pipes extending from a first location to a second location, for carrying heat between said first and second locations; a first container having an interior defining the first location and for receiving the stream of relatively strong beer and heat from the heat pipes to produce a stream of relatively weak beer and vapor; a second container having an interior defining the second location and for receiving the vapor and the strong brine to produce a stream of relatively weak brine and heat; and a conduit for carrying the vapor from the first container to the second container.
