CIL 608 ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A process for removing dichromates from chlorate- rich solutions containing same comprising reducing the hexavalent chromium of the dichromates to trivalent chromium with a chemical reducing agent and separating the trivalent chromium in the form of chromium hydroxide precipitate, the process being characterized in the hydrazine is used as the reducing agent at the concentration of at least 3 moles thereof for each mole of dichromate, at a temperature not below about 40°C and that the pH at the end of the reaction is adjusted to between 7 and 8.
