Microporous membranes are described and characterized as having a morphological microstructure of very highly elongated nodes interconnected by fibrils which form a structural network of voids or pores through the spaces between the nodes and fibrils, which voids or pores extend from one side of the membrane to the other. The membranes are highly uniform in terms of mass per volume, have very high strength and a very open microstructure.
L'invention concerne des membranes microporeuses ayant une microstructure morphologique constituée de noeuds très allongés reliés par des fibrilles formant un réseau de vides ou pores constituant des espaces entre les noeuds et les fibrilles. Ces vides ou pores traversent toute la membrane d'un côté à l'autre. Les membranes sont très uniformes du point de vue de la masse volumique, elles sont très résistantes et elles ont une microstructure très ouverte.
