STRUCTURAL CHANNEL AND NUT Abstract of the Disclosure: A structural channel having a square external cross-sectional shape with 1-1/2 inch sides has leg end portions that are reversely bent inwardly and terminate in lips that extend parallel to the legs. Each lip cooperates with its associated leg to define an internal lip space having a width that is between 0.10-0.14 inch when the channel is of 12 gauge metal and is between 0.14-0.17 inch when the channel is of 14 gauge metal. A universal rectangular nut usable with channel of either 1-1/2 or 1-5/8 inch width has a length of 1-5/16 inches and a width of 27/32 inch. One pair of diagonally opposite corners on the nut are smoothly curved, and one face of the nut has a pair of grooves for receiving terminal ends of channel lips.
