A reinforced, lightweight, dimensionally stable panel capable of resisting shear loads when fastened to framing equal to or exceeding shear loads provided by plywood or oriented strand board panels. The panels employ a core of a continuous phase resulting from the curing of an aqueous mixture of calcium sulfate alpha hemihydrate, hydraulic cements, an active pozzolan and lime, the continuous phase being reinforced with alkali-resistant glass fibers and containing ceramic microspheres, or a blend of ceramic and polymer microspheres, or being formed from an aqueous mixture having a weight ratio of water-to-reactive powder of 0.6/1 to 0.7/1 or a combination thereof. At least one outer surface of the panels may include a cured continuous phase reinforced with glass fibers and containing sufficient polymer spheres to improve nailability or made with a water-to-reactive powders ratio to provide an effect similar to polymer spheres, or a combination thereof.
Cette invention concerne un panneau renforcé, léger, stable dimensionnellement, capable, une fois fixé sur une charpente, de résister à des charges de cisaillement égales ou supérieures à celles que peuvent supporter des panneaux en aggloméré ou à copeaux orientés. Les panneaux selon l'invention possèdent une partie centrale en phase continue obtenue par durcissement d'un mélange aqueux de sulfate de calcium alpha-hémihydraté, de ciment hydraulique, de pouzzolane active et de chaux, cette phase continue étant renforcée par des fibres de verre résistant aux alcalis et renfermant des micropshères céramiques ou un mélange de microsphères céramiques et polymères, ou bien sont réalisée à partir d'un mélange aqueux avec un rapport de poids eau-poudre réactive de 0,6/1 à 0,7/1, ou bien encore selon une combinaison des deux procédés. Au moins une surface extérieure des panneaux peut comporter une phase continue durcie renforcée avec des fibres de verre et contenant assez de sphères polymères pour faciliter le cloutage, peut présenter un rapport eau-poudres réactives adéquat pour donner un effet analogue à celui de sphères polymères, ou bien résulter d'une combinaison des deux procédés.
