ABSTRACT The present invention relates to an age-hardenable ferritic pearlitic structural steel with high fine grain resistivity up to 1300°C consisting essentially of 0.2 to 0.5 % carbon 0.4 to 1.3 % silicon 0.8 to 1.8 % manganese 0.008 to 0.2 % sulphur 0 to 0.7 % chromium 0 to 0.1 % aluminum 0 to 0.05% titanium balance iron and incidental impurities. In this steel formation, mixed sulphides are precipitated at the grain boundaries. The steel is suitable for use in structural members which are stressed at elevated temperatures up to 560°C.
