The invention concerns a structure arrangement comprising a plurality of surface regions having a relief structure which has an optical-diffraction effect, in particular for visually identifiable, optical security elements for value-bearing documents, for example bank notes, credit cards, passes or cheque documents, or other items to be safeguarded. In order to modulate the brightness of a surface region without having to provide relief structures which differ from each other, it is proposed that the structure arrangement has surface regions which have at least two sub-regions with identical relief structures which are displaced relative to each other by a fraction of the grating period.

L'invention concerne un système structural qui comprend plusieurs zones superficielles (8, 10, 24, 34, 52) dont la structure en relief est active en termes d'optique de diffraction, conçu notamment pour des éléments de sécurité optiques, identifiables de manière visuelle, destinés à des documents protégés, par ex. des billets de banque, des cartes de crédit, des pièces d'identité ou des chèques, ou bien tout autre article à protéger. Afin de pouvoir moduler la luminosité d'une zone superficielle (8, 10, 24, 34, 52), sans qu'il soit nécessaire de prévoir des structures en relief différant les unes des autres, il est prévu que le système structural comporte des zones superficielles (8, 10, 24, 34, 52) présentant au moins deux zones partielles (12, 14, 26, 28, 36, 38, 48, 50, 54, 56) ayant une structure en relief identique et en décalage mutuel d'une fraction de l'intervalle réticulaire.
