ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Structure for and method of burning high nitrogen-bearing fuels in a boiler or other combustion chamber, in such a manner as to prduce low oxides of nitrogen with minimum excess oxygen and smoke. The fuels are first burned in primary combustion with between 60 to 95 percent Stoichiometric air. Between 5 to 40 percent Stoichiometric air is sub- sequently gradually added to the smoke flame produced by the primary combustion to provide a secondary combustion producing very low oxides of nitrogen. The structure includes a plurality of sets of angularly spaced apart radially positioned air nozzles extending into a boiler at axially spaced apart locations remote from the boiler burner to provide secondary combustion air within the tip of the flame produced by the primary combustion at the burner.
