A superconducting oxide composite structure is provided which includes a superconducting oxide member (10), a metal layer (30) surrounding the superconducting oxide member, and an insulating layer (20) of a complex oxide formed in situ adjacent to the superconducting oxide member (10) and the metal layer (30). A method of forming such a superconducting oxide composite structure includes encapsulating a superconducting oxide member or precursor within a metal matrix layer from the group of: (i) a reactive metal sheath adjacent to the superconducting oxide member or precursor, the reactive metal sheath surrounded by a second metal layer or (ii) an alloy containing a reactive metal; to form an intermediate product, and, heating the intermediate product at temperatures and for time sufficient to form an insulating layer of a complex oxide in situ, the insulating layer (20) being adjacent to the superconducting oxide member (10), or precursor, and the metal matrix layer (20).
L'invention concerne une structure composite à oxyde supraconducteur qui comporte un élément à oxyde supraconducteur (10), une couche métallique (30) entourant l'élément à oxyde supraconducteur, et une couche isolante (20) d'un oxyde complexe formé in situ à proximité immédiate de l'élément à oxyde supraconducteur (10) et la couche métallique (30). L'invention porte aussi sur un procédé de formation de la structure composite à oxyde supraconducteur, qui consiste à encapsuler un précurseur ou un élément à oxyde supraconducteur dans une couche matricielle métallique à partir de: (i) une gaine à métal réactif adjacente au précurseur ou à l'élément à oxyde supraconducteur, gaine entourée par une seconde couche métallique ou (ii) un alliage contenant un métal réactif; à former un produit intermédiaire, et à chauffer le produit intermédiaire à des températures et pendant une durée suffisantes pour qu'une couche isolante d'oxyde complexe soit formée in situ, ladite couche étant adjacente (20) au précurseur ou à l'élément à oxyde supraconducteur (10) et à la couche matricielle métallique (20).
