Abstract of the Disclosure A structure for mounting an air bag in an air bag system, comprises a retainer having an inflator mounting opening, an air bag having an inflator receiving opening aligned with the inflator mounting opening, a press ring cooperating with the retainer to sandwitch the peripheral edge of the inflator receiving opening of the air bag, and means for securing the press ring to the retainer. Either one of the press ring or the retainer includes projections, and the other includes engagement portions to receive the projections. The air bag has at its peripheral edge apertures through which the projections extend to engage with the engagement portions. A structure for mounting an air bag in an air bag system, comprises a retainer having an inflator mounting opening, an air bag having an inflator receiving opening aligned with the inflator mounting opening, a press ring cooperating with the retainer to sandwitch the peripheral edge of the inflator receiving opening of the air bag, means for securing the press ring to the retainer, and a sheet made of synthetic resin and attached to the peripheral edge of the inflator receiving opening of the air bag.
