A system and method are disclosed for managing the display or the printing of a copyright notice or security label for a soft copy document, so as to provide appropriate security for the document as desired by its author. A special copyright notice can be displayed on the first page or predetermined pages of the document as it is displayed on a display screen. If a printer is connected to the system and commanded to print the document, a cover page will be printed which includes the copyright notice, before the rest of the document is printed. If a "Do Not Copy" label is included in the soft copy of the structured document, any printer command, write to disk command, or telecommunication command will be aborted, thereby giving effect to the author's desired restriction not to copy the document.
Système et méthode de gestion de l'affichage et de l'impression d'avis de droit d'auteur ou d'étiquettes de sécurité relatives à des documents sur copie écran, assurant au document la protection voulue par l'auteur. Un avis de droit d'auteur spécial peut être affiché sur la première page ou sur des pages prédéterminées du document affiché à l'écran. Si une imprimante est reliée au système et qu'une commande d'impression est envoyée, une page couverture portant cet avis sera imprimé avant le reste du document. Si un avis d'interdiction de reproduction est joint à la copie écran d'un document, toute commande d'impression, d'enregistrement sur disque ou de transmission du document par courrier électronique sera avortée, assurant ainsi le respect de la volonté de l'auteur de protéger le document contre toute tentative de reproduction.
