STRUCTURED SILICAS ABSTRACT A method of preparing spherical microparticles of silica comprising adding an acid solution to a silicate solution before or after addition of an alkali metal alginate, ammonium alginate, starch,gelatin, pectin or mixtures thereof. The microparticles can be used to prepare macroporous material having a controlled pore structure.
