Abstract of the Invention A stud shield for protecting the service and utility conduits in building walls is provided. The shield includes a generally rectangular steel plate having a wall sheeting facing side and a stud facing side. An adhesive tape is secured to the sheeting facing surface and extends past the side edges of the plate. A release layer is adjacent the stud facing side of the plate and contacts the portions of the adhesive tape extending past the edges of the plate. The present invention also encompasses that the shields may be distributed one at a time or may be made available as a unitized plurality of shields, wherein a selected number of shields may be removed from an endless roll as needed. 17
