ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A studless pneumatic tire has a tread formed from a cellular rubber and polyamide short fibers distributed therein. The polyamide fibers are treated with a silane coupling agent and have selected average diameter and length. The celluare rubber has various physical properties which contribute in combination with the short fibers to enhanced tire performance on icy/snowy as well as dry/wet roadway.
