ABSTRACT The present invention relates to an apparatus for electrically stun- ning slaughter cattle, in particular horned cattle such as horned sheep. The apparatus having a set of electrodes mounted at the outer ends of levers which can extend into a passage between endless conveyor belts in a forward, inward and rearward direction. The electrodes preferably are pivotably mounted at the outer ends of the levers, by means of transverse pivot shafts or self- centering resilient universal joints. An arrangement is provided to swing the electrodes out of the passage, which arrangement can be formed by a cylinder or by mounting the levers upon a shaft which can be rotated and carry the plurality of levers with electrodes, or by using endless chains carrying a plurality of levers with electrodes, which chains can be driven in the direct- ion of movement of the conveyor belts.
