ABSTRACT This invention relates to a subrange-type decoder equalizing A/D converter used for a transmission system that samples a television signal at a specified sampling frequency. The system first transmits a sampled value and a test signal for detecting the transmission characteristics of a transmission path. The system then decodes the sampled value with a decoder and equalizes the transmission characteristics of the transmission path using the test signal.
